Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas' Windmill Middle School earned a five-star rating in the state's 2025-26 school accountability system, according to a press release published by Nevada Business Magazine.
The Henderson charter school, founded in 2007, held a celebration Tuesday, Oct. 27, that drew Mayor Michelle Romero and Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson to the Windmill campus at 2150 Windmill Pkwy.
Five stars is the top mark in the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF), the state's official rating system for public schools. The framework scores schools on an index of one to 100 based on English language arts and math assessments, science assessments, chronic absenteeism and graduation rate, according to the Nevada Department of Education. That index score corresponds to a star rating of one to five.
The celebration also highlighted Windmill Elementary School, which improved to a four-star rating for 2025-26 after earning three stars the previous year, according to the press release.
Both schools operate on the Windmill campus.
Statewide, 122 schools earned five-star ratings in 2025-26, representing 14.2% of the 860 rated schools, according to the Department of Education. That was down from 146 five-star schools the year before.
CASLV is a STEM-focused public charter school network with seven campuses in Southern Nevada, according to the press release. The network said it serves more than 5,500 students.
For the 2027-28 school year, the CASLV admissions page lists two upcoming lottery dates: the kindergarten lottery on Nov. 2, 2026, and the pre-K and grades 1-12 lottery on Feb. 1, 2027.
