Henderson residents will pick their next mayor, settle a contested Ward 3 council seat and weigh in on statewide races when vote centers open at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Polls close at 7 p.m., but voters in line by closing time must be allowed to cast their ballots, according to the Associated Press via the Las Vegas Sun. Here is what Henderson voters need to know.
The mayor's race
Mayor Michelle Romero faces former Henderson Police Chief Hollie Chadwick in the city's marquee contest. Romero pulled 49.7% of the vote in the June primary, nearly winning outright, while Chadwick finished second with 23%, KLAS reported.
The race has played out against a backdrop of City Hall turnover. Chadwick blamed Romero for her dismissal as police chief, according to KLAS. Romero said the city manager made that decision in February 2025. Multiple acting police chiefs and deputy chiefs have cycled through the department since, and two assistant city managers announced their departures in September, KSNV reported.
Romero pointed to infrastructure work during her tenure. "20,000 feet of flood control has been installed. 400 lights have been installed. We've improved 17 intersections," she told KSNV.
KSNV reported that Chadwick did not respond to an interview request as of its Oct. 23 report.

When to expect results
Most of the counting should happen fast. In Clark County, the first vote update on election night typically includes all early in-person results and partial mail ballot results, before any Election Day in-person votes are released, the AP reported.
That early batch matters. About 80% of all ballots cast in Nevada's 2022 U.S. Senate race were cast early or by absentee ballot, according to the AP.
The AP said it will declare winners only when it determines no scenario would allow a trailing candidate to close the gap. The Henderson mayor's race is among the contests the AP will call.
