Valencia Hampton and Christopher Perry, both 32, were shot and killed inside a Henderson apartment on Oct. 23. The shooting followed an argument over cleanliness, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, citing an arrest report.

The Clark County coroner's office ruled both deaths homicides from multiple gunshot wounds, the Review-Journal reported.

The Henderson Police Department arrested Andre D'Jallon Thigpen, 22, that morning in connection with the killings. Thigpen is Hampton's brother. He faces two felony counts of open murder with a deadly weapon.

The Review-Journal, citing Henderson Justice Court records, reported three felony counts of discharging a firearm from or within a structure or vehicle. 8 News Now reported 13 counts of discharging a gun within a structure, and News 3 Las Vegas reported 15 total counts including the two murder charges.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call around 7 a.m. about gunshots at the Cascade Apartments in the 1000 block of Center Street, near East Lake Mead Parkway and East Warm Springs Road. Officers found Hampton and Perry with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment. Both were pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts from the Henderson Fire Department.

Hampton and Perry lived in separate apartments at the complex and co-parented their son, Perry's brother told police, according to the arrest report. Hampton lived with Thigpen and her son. Perry lived with his brother and father in a separate unit.

The couple's son, a middle-school student, told investigators he had stayed at his father's apartment the night before the shooting because Hampton and Thigpen had been arguing. The boy said he went to his mother's apartment that morning to get ready for school and found Hampton arguing with Thigpen about him not cleaning up after himself. Perry had joined the argument, and the boy left for school on his e-scooter before the shooting, the arrest report stated.

When the boy left, he saw Thigpen, Hampton and Perry "all standing in the living room together partially talking, partially arguing," News 3 reported, citing the arrest report.

The arrest report also described a prior confrontation. Thigpen and Hampton had argued about cleaning dishes two nights before the shooting. A relative told police Thigpen became "aggressive" with Hampton during that dispute, according to News 3.

Investigators recovered 13 9mm cartridge casings from the apartment, News 3 reported. A 911 caller told police they heard gunshots and saw a person in a red jacket drive away from the complex, according to News 3.

Police said Thigpen fled in Hampton's car, a white 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. The vehicle crashed near Lake Mead Parkway and Lake Las Vegas Parkway, according to the Review-Journal. Officers took Thigpen into custody around 9:08 a.m. near Lake Las Vegas after establishing a perimeter in the area, 8 News Now reported.

At the time of his arrest, Thigpen was carrying a backpack containing a black 9mm handgun and ammunition that matched the shell casings found at the scene, according to the arrest report. His jacket matched the witness description. Thigpen declined to speak with detectives.

Henderson Police Department Capt. Haven Tillmon briefed reporters near the scene on Friday, Oct. 23. Tillmon confirmed officers found two people dead from gunshot wounds and that a man was taken into custody after the vehicle crash.

As of Oct. 27, court records showed Thigpen held at the Henderson Detention Center, News 3 reported.
